Help a Pet Clinic
Help-a-Pet offers veterinary care for pets in need in the Bennington area. A free clinic for dogs and cats is held on the second Sunday of every month from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 601 Main Street, Bennington. The clinic treats parasites, minor illnesses, wounds and injuries, and offers basic wellness exams and vaccinations for pets from families who do not have the funds to go to a veterinarian; for example, those who are eligible for Medicaid, 3 Squares, fuel assistance or Meals on Wheels.
Help a Pet began many years ago as a fund to provide for medical care for abandoned and stray animals. Once animals received a clean bill of health, they were put up for adoption. Run by George Glanzberg, a retired veterinarian with over 40 years of experience, and his wife, Gail, who along with their staff volunteer their time in service to the animals. The clinic relies for funding from donations, which go directly to providing medical supplies and equipment. Phone consultations are also available by appointment; call 802-379-3493 or email [email protected]
