Help Clean Up the Long Trail
Help the Manchester Section of the Green Mountain Club get the Long Trail Ready for the hiking season on Saturday, May 13. They will meet at 8 a.m. at the Peru Park and Ride to car pool to the the Long Trail section from Griffith Lake south to Mad Tom Notch. They will hike in to clear water bars and do any necessary blowdown removal and clipping. The total hiking distance is seven miles with trail work on four and a half miles. Bring extra layers, rain jacket, bug dope, lunch and snacks and fluids. If you have a garden hoe or hazel hoe bring it, but they do have tools. The day will be moderately difficult because of the distance and the climb up Peru Peak. To RSVP, contact Dave Ratti at 802-366-0698 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Killington Section of the Green Mountain Club will also be doing Long Trail clean-up on the same day, beginning at 9 a.m. Tools will be provided. In the event of rain, they’ll convene the following day, Sunday. For information, call Herb Ogden at 802-293-2510 or Wayne Krevetski at 802-282-2237.
