Heritage and Diversity Converge
The multi-talented musician Arvel Bird will give a performance at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, in Weston’s Old Parish Church. This award- winning artist’s music draws upon his dual heritage – Celtic and American Indian – as well as tunes from many other genres. Originally from the southwest, Bird has played the violin since age nine, and taught himself guitar, keyboard, mandolin, Native American flutes and Celtic whistles. He has performed with Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn, Louise Mandrell and others, and has won numerous music awards in the United States and Canada. Profits from this concert, part of the ‘Hearts and Voices’ Performance Series established in 2009, will be donated to the Springfield Humane Society. Old Parish Church is located on Route 100, on the left as you enter Weston from the south. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to be certain of getting a seat.
