Hildene Invites the Northshire Community to Come for a Free Visit
On Sunday, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., guests are invited to experience Hildene to the fullest and free of charge: it’s Community Day 2016, Hildene’s way of thanking the community. All are encouraged to bring walking shoes so they can visit the many venues the Lincoln Family Home has to offer: the home and gardens, Welcome Center and Museum Store, the Pullman Car Sunbeam, the goat dairy and cheese-making facility at Hildene Farm, and about 12 miles of scenic woodland and meadow trails. This year a highlight is a visit to the lower part of the property, Dene Farm, where visitors can see the new teaching greenhouse and the return of the meadow to agricultural use. Transportation to the Dene leaves from the Welcome Center on the hour. All visitors must park and check in at the Welcome Center to receive a sticker. Bring a picnic, stay for an hour or spend the day. Hildene is located off Route 7A south in Manchester. To learn more, call 802-362-1788 or visit the website at hildene.org.
