Hoosick Falls Elks Plan Flag Day Festivities
On Flag Day, June 14, at 6:30 p.m., Hoosick Falls, N.Y. residents are invited to the American Legion on Main Street for a special program hosted by Voice of a Vet, Terri Burdick, the Hoosick Falls Community Band and the American Legion. Listen and sing along to patriotic songs, enjoy the American Legion Honor Guard’s Flag Raising and join in the National Anthem. Refreshments will be served. A Dessert and Art Auction at 8 p.m. will raise funds for the Hoosick Falls flag – flown over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – to travel overseas where it can fly over the gravesites of our local servicemen. Our hope is that by this time next year, our Flag has flown over each of our servicemen’s graves. Veteran Reverend William Bovard has donated some of his drawings to be auctioned. His work is on display in the Hoosick Federal Credit Union’s front window. If you would like to contribute a dessert, it should be clearly marked (label if it has nuts). Drop it off at the Legion that day between 6 and 6:30 p.m. For details, call 518-686-3269.
