Impacts to 3SquaresVT Due to Government Shutdown

The Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA) is advising clients and the elder community of impacts to the 3SquaresVT benefit program (nutrition assistance) starting in February resulting from the shutdown of the federal government. “The Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) will be issuing 3SquaresVT benefits for the month of February on January 20, much earlier than is traditional,” said Courtney Anderson, Nutrition Director with SVCOA. “This is really important for our clients and older Vermonters in general to know. All 3SquaresVT application or recertification processes must be completed by January 15 in order for an individual to receive benefits for February.” Anderson also noted that since benefits issued on January 20 will be for the entire month of February, participants should plan to budget accordingly.

If you need to complete an interview for your 3SquaresVT application or recertification, please call the interview line at 1-877-403-7668. If you are currently in the application or recertification process, if you need to complete an interim report, or if you recently received notice from DCF requesting documentation, you must send your documents in immediately to continue your benefits. If you aren’t sure if this applies to you, call 800-479-6151; there might be a long wait time, but stay on the line; it is important that you get the information you need.
