Independent Television Festival to Boost Manchester Economy
ITVFest, (Independent Television Festival) is the world’s largest, most accessible and longest running independent television festival. It recently announced that it is moving to Manchester. The festival brings together television creators, actors, writers, directors, producers, financiers, Hollywood executives and general public fans every autumn, to relax and connect in the Vermont mountains. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend the week-long ITVFest in Manchester in October 2017. In past years, attendees have stayed an average of 4.4 days and spent an average of $950 per person on lodging, dining, shopping and local activities, making the event a million-dollar addition to Manchester’s annual economy. “For every artist and individual involved with creating an independent TV show, ITVFest offers an opportunity to showcase their work and network with other talented content creators, ranging from new filmmakers to past Emmy winners,” said Philip Gilpin, Jr., ITVFest executive director. “The casual atmosphere allows for significant interaction between the show creators and the leading industry professionals – it’s truly unique and one of the best features of the festival.” A Manchester-based host committee has been established to involve all aspects of the community from the start. Members include Betsy Bleakie, executive director of the Manchester Community Library; Carolyn Blitz, owner of Mountain Media; John Burnham, general manager of the Taconic Hotel; Stephen Drunsic, vice president, operations and finance, for the Nashville and Eastern Railroad Corporation; Pauline Moore, economic development officer, Town of Manchester; Chris Morrow, co-owner of Northshire Bookstore; Joan Teaford, interim executive director at Southern Vermont Arts Center; Jennifer Weinstein, Vice president of community development for Mountain Media; and Alexandra Zullo, director of sales and marketing for Equinox Resort. The host committee will be planning and inviting all Manchester area residents to attend a series of monthly ITVFest events starting in the spring. These include screenings of past winners, Q and A sessions, writing seminars and other more. For information, to view the selection trailers, or purchase tickets, visit itvfest.com.
