Invasive Species: Why Should You Care?

The Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park Dinner Meeting on Thursday, November 7, beginning at 6, will offer a lecture by Casey Holzworth, the Natural Resource Steward for the Capital District and Thousand Island Regions. His topic is ‘Invasive Species: Why Should You Care?’ You’ve probably heard a bit here and there about the issue of invasive species, but if you’ve never really understood what all the fuss is about, then this will be an interesting evening for you. From nightcrawlers to common reed, you’ll learn how these organisims are affecting the Rensselaer Plateau.

The cost is $15 per person for a buffet dinner at the Grafton Inn, 2242 Route 2 in Grafton. Vegetarian options will be available. RSVP is required in advance, so please contact Friends president Bernard Cognon at 518-658-9144 or Liz Wagner at the park at 518-279-1155 to register. Payment is also required in advance and can be sent to Friends of GLSP, P.O. Box 163, Grafton, N.Y. 12082.
