It’s Time! Go Downhill for Diabetes
There’s still time to sign up for the annual Downhill for Diabetes ski and snowboard event at Pico Mountain Resort in Killington from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, when participants will raise money for funding research for juvenile diabetes. Run by the nonprofit organization Donations for Diabetes, Downhill Diabetes offers great prizes and the opportunity to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation find a cure for this disease. To date, they have raised well over $100,000 towards the cause. You don’t have to ski to participate either! You can simply register and add your donations online and still be eligible for event merchandise and prizes. You must be pre-registered by Thursday February 23, to receive discounts and prizes. You can do so and get all the details at donationsfordiabetes.org.
There will also be a timed donation race course set up with prizes for the fastest times of the day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The race is open to the entire mountain. You can register for the race on the hill at the start, or in the lodge at the Downhill for Diabetes table. In addition, there will be a raffle to win an original watercolor painting of Pico Mountain by local artist Lynn Pratt.
