Jazz Vespers Season Finale

Zion Lutheran Church of Pittsfield, Mass., 74 First Street, hosts its Jazz Vespers Season Finale on Thursday, June 19, at 6 p.m., marking the conclusion of the second full season of Jazz Vespers at Zion Lutheran. The day coincides with Third Thursday in downtown Pittsfield.

Vespers is an evening service with prayers for the close of the day, observed in the Christian tradition for the last 15 centuries. Jazz Vespers at Zion incorporates the modern elements of jazz, blues, and gospel into this historic tradition.

The ensemble includes the Reverend Andrew Barnett, piano; Katharine Wiencke, flute; Andy Wrba, bass; Bill Chapman, drums; and Marisa Massery, vocals; and guest Will Cleary, alto saxophone. Jazz Vespers and its musicians have been featured in the Berkshire Eagle, the Berkshire Beacon, Berkshire Magazine, and other local news and information sources. There is no admission fee or cover charge to attend Jazz Vespers. A reception will follow. For more information, visit zionlutheranpittsfield.org.
