Judy Collins Concert to Benefit Race for the Cure
It’s been said that the annual Vermont Race for the Cure is a tough act to follow – until now. This year’s Race on July 23 will be followed by a rare live performance by living folk legend, Judy Collins. ‘A Concert for the Cure: An Evening with Judy Collins’ is presented by Stratton Magazine and Stratton Mountain, and starts at 4 p.m.
Terry Farkas, executive director of Komen VT-NH, said, “You can run or walk the race on Saturday morning, grab a bite to eat, and head up to Stratton to continue your show of support for local women and families touched by breast cancer at the show of a lifetime… It’s one more way the entire family can team up in the fight to end breast cancer forever.”
Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and rock singer and songwriter Syd Straw opens the concert at 3. Tickets are $20 in advance at stratton.com and $25 at the door.
It’s not too late to register for the Race for the Cure or join a team. Go to komenvtnh.org to sign up, and you’re set for a great weekend supporting a wonderful local cause. Seventy-five percent of the proceeds raised from the race are dedicated to breast cancer education, treatment and screening programs in Vermont and New Hampshire, while the remaining 25 percent goes toward global breast cancer research.
