Komen Awards $170,000 to Area Breast Cancer Programs
The Komen Vermont-New Hampshire Grants Committee has awarded $170,000 to nine community-based breast health programs supporting vital breast health services for medically underserved and uninsured women and men in Vermont and New Hampshire. This brings the total awarded locally for breast cancer education, screening and treatment to nearly $7,500,000 since 1993. In addition to the local grants, the affiliate also donated $55,000 to the Komen National Research Grants Program.
Grantees were the 19th Women’s Health and Cancer Conference, Vermont Cancer Center, UVM College of Medicine; Breast Health Outreach Education Project, Rutland Regional Medical Center; Emergency Fund, Cancer Patient Support Foundation; Affordable Breast Cancer Screening at UVM-CVMC, Central Vermont Medical Center; Breast Care Access Program, Northwestern Medical Center; Breast Cancer Outreach Project, North Country Hospital; SVMC Breast Health Outreach Program, Southwestern Vermont Health Care; and in New Hampshire, Mammogram Support Fund, Trustees of Dartmouth College and the New Hampshire Emergency Fund, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.
Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organization and Komen VT/NH is one of over 100 affiliates dedicated to ending breast cancer in their communities by funding breast health programs, breast cancer screening, medical supplies, financial assistance and patient and family support.
