Landgrove Meeting House
The Landgrove Meeting House will again host Reverend James Kowalski on Sunday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. Since his ordination in 1978, Kowalski has served as a chaplain at UVM, and headed parishes in Connecticut. Two months after the 9/11 attacks on New York City, he was called to be Dean at The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, one of the city’s premiere landmarks, where in partnership with the bishop they ran the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world. His extraordinary knowledge, leadership, fundraising and accessibility were just some of the traits that led to this august position. His tenure there through 2017 coincided with untold dramatic moments. What makes his appearances so appealing is his completely down-to-earth manner. When he preaches, it’s not from the pulpit but by walking around the congregation, sharing anecdotes and scripture and answering questions. He and his wife, Anne Brewer, a physician and Episcopal priest, have a home in Townsend. The service will be followed by refreshments on the lawn.
