Leatherstocking Honor Flight
Honor Flight is to transport America’s veterans to Washington DC to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Top priority is given to senior veterans, World War ll survivors and veterans who may be terminally ill. Any WW ll, Korea, or Vietnam veterans who would like to sign up for the Honor Flight this fall can go to leatherstockinghonorflight.org to download an application; sign up as soon as possible, since these flights fill up fast. The spring flight (May 11) is already full, but a few seats invariably open up last minute due to sickness or medical appointments, so send in your application to be on the waiting list. Those with questions or special needs can call Garry DuFour at 802-325-2925, who will put you in touch with the coordinator. The Honor Flight departs from Albany, N.Y., and is a long day with a full police escort to over six national veteran memorials. Snacks, lunch and dinner are provided at no cost to veterans. An escort can be provided for those with mobile needs.
