Lerman to Exhibit Photographs in Gallery at Equinox
The Gallery at Equinox Village will present an exhibit of art by Matthew Lerman titled ‘Great Images with Majesty, Brilliance and Glory,’ opening with a free reception on Thursday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. that will feature light refreshments and music.
Lerman was born with a camera in his hands. Early on, he was encouraged by his parents to take family photos using a box-shaped Kodak point and shoot camera that was equipped with large and cumbersome magnesium wire-filled flash bulbs. Matthew realized quickly that beyond the family photos existed an awesome and breathtaking natural world. This realization began to focus and crystallize his young photographer’s vision onto the natural world. Lerman has dedicated his life to exploring nature and helping others to see the beauty and splendor surrounding us. He spent 40 years teaching biology in the NYC area. When he saw the need for a marine biology textbook, he sat down and created one, featuring many of his own photographs. The textbook was used in colleges and secondary schools throughout the world for over 20 years.
For many years he shared his photographs with only his students and now he wishes to share them with the public. “My artistic portrayal of nature strives to bring the beauty of the outdoors into focus by capturing fleeting moments and unique compositions,” he states. The Gallery at Equinox Village is located at 49 Maple Street in Manchester Center.Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For information, call
