Neighbor to Neighbor to Host Luncheon and Author Talk
Neighbor to Neighbor, a local non-profit organization, is hosting a luncheon to raise funds to help fulfill its mission: to assist our elderly neighbors who wish to live independently by providing no cost, volunteer services that help to nurture relationships. The event will be at 12 noon on Friday, May 18, at the Manchester Country Club, with special guest Marian Knapp, author of ‘Aging in Places: Reflective Preparation for the Future,’ which discusses the multifaceted lives of elders and reflects upon their places in society, culture and community. Bennington Elks Dinner
The Bennington Elks will serve their monthly dinner for members and their guests on Wednesday, May 2, from 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone. Doors open at 5:15. Choose baked or fried fish or baked chicken with scalloped or French fried potatoes, coleslaw, clam chowder, dinner rolls and cookies for $9. Proceeds go towards scholarships and Veterans programs. The Elks Club is located at 125 Washington Avenue, Bennington.
Cambridge Roast Beef Dinner
The Cambridge Food Pantry, also known as Loaves and Fishes, located at 59 South Park Street/Route 22 in Cambridge, N.Y., will host its monthly fundraising dinner on Saturday, May 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will include roast beef, gravy, potatoes, vegetable, dessert and beverages, all for the low price of $10. Where else can you go to get a good home cooked meal and help to feed others at the same time?
Pawlet Roast Pork Dinner
The Ladies and Gentlemen’s Supper Club invite you to a Roast Pork Dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the Pawlet Community Church. The menu includes roast pork baked with our famous topping, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, hot vegetables, cabbage salad, applesauce, fruited jello, rolls and hot and cold beverages. Dessert this month will be chocolate and Hawaiian wedding cakes. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children up to age 12, and free for those five and under. The Ladies Aid Society of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford will be hosting its 97th annual May Breakfast on Wednesday, May 2, from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Held in the Church Fellowship Hall, this breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs, strata, bacon, sausage, corned beef hash, pancakes, muffins, fruit, coffee, juices, tea, milk or hot chocolate. Fried eggs, waffles and toast are available to order. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for under age four.
Arlington Spaghetti Dinner
The Sons of the American Legion at Post 69 in Arlington will be hosting a fundraising Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the Arlington youth baseball program on Friday, May 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost for the meal is $8 per person or $20 for a family of four, with $4 for each additional person.
