Lights, Camera, Action, Courthouse!
This summer has been a busy time for the Salem Courthouse Community Center, with an exciting new quilt exhibit it the Great Hall, ‘Lunch, Learn & Play’ children enjoying their summer program, and Al Fresco plans coming together. In addition, the CCC hosted an independent film company based in New York City over the Al Fresco weekend. Forefront Pictures is filming a documentary entitled ‘Urban Farmers’. The film is being produced by Nick Caccese and directed by Rachel Caccese, with the cinematography by Sean Simpson. ‘Urban Farmers’ aims to educate urban children about the origin of food, how to eat in a healthy manner, the benefits of local farming, and how it affects the families involved.
Nick contacted Donna Farringer, Executive Director of the CCC, asking permission to film the Courthouse Community Garden, ‘Lunch, Learn & Play’ kid’s participation in garden chores, behind-the-scenes Al Fresco preparation, and the event itself. The crew also filmed farms supporting Al Fresco, including 3 Corner Field Farm, Gardenworks, Woody Hill Farm and Sheldon Farm. It was an exciting opportunity, and those involved are looking forward to the film’s release in mid 2014.
