Local Authors to Discuss ‘Bennington Then and Now’

Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. the Bennington Free Library will host Joe Hall and Richard Marshall discussing their new books. Hall’s ‘Bygone Bennington’ is a collection of broadcasts from his program by the same name featured on WBTN, and includes pictures related to the various subjects. A Bennington native, Hall is one of 14 people from the Bennington area interviewed in Marshall’s book, A Ramble through Small-Town New England,’ which explores towns from Brattleboro to Bennington, through photographs and stories from artists, farmers, store owners, entrepreneurs, factory workers and many others. Marshall lives in Whitingham; before retiring to Vermont, he directed operas in the eastern US and founded the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York City. Both books will be available for viewing and purchase; light refreshments will be served. The Bennington Free Library, 101 Silver Street in Bennington, is wheelchair accessible. For information, call 802-442-9051 or go to benningtonfreelibrary.org.
