Local children’s author Anne Hunter will introduce her new book at the Bennington Free Library.

Local children’s author Anne Hunter will celebrate the release of her book, ‘Cricket Song’ with a reading at the Bennington Free Library on Saturday, March 5, starting at 11 a.m. There will be activities and snacks as well as opportunities for questions and book signing. This is a special event for families with young children. ‘Cricket Song’ is a bedtime story book evoking the sounds and animals of the night. As two children living on different continents slowly drift off to sleep, they connect with each other through all that lies between them. Hunter says she grew up following her mother through the fields and swamps of south Florida in the company of birders, who knew the names of the all trees, plants, insects and animals. Her books, with titles like ‘What’s in the Pond?’ and ‘What’s under the Log?’ are inspired by the natural world. She lives on a Vermont farm nestled between the Green and Taconic Mountains. The event is co-sponsored by the Bennington Free Library and The Bennington Bookshop.
