LTS sixth and seventh graders recently hiked to Dorset’s Gettysburg Quarry.

On September 15 and 16, Long Trail School students and faculty boarded schoolbuses and vans with sleeping bags in hand for its fall trip days. Grades 10, 11 and 12 traveled to Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA in western Massachusetts. Grades eight and nine trekked to Silver Bay YMCA in the Adirondacks. Grades six and seven explored the area surrounding the school, including a hike on the Dorset Trail to the Gettysburg Quarry with Bley House Museum’s curator Jon Mathewson. These expeditions are a much-anticipated tradition, and give students and faculty a chance to interact outside of the classroom and to share team-building and active experiences while learning about and from each other.
