‘Made in the Berkshires’ Celebrates the Arts

This year’s Made in the Berkshires Festival will be held Friday through Sunday, November 11 to 13. The sixth annual festival features new and innovative and established work presented by Berkshire County playwrights, actors, directors, musicians and performers. The festival will once again be curated by Hilary Somers Deely and Barbara Sims. Tickets: range from $15 to $50.

Events begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11, with a visual art installation featuring works by established and emerging artists at The Colonial Theatre, 111 South Street, Pittsfield, Mass. Admission is free. The Opening Night Celebration begins at 8 p.m., with Taste of the Berkshires and Dance Party with the 18-piece Eagles Big Band offering a swinging medley that sets the tone for a fabulous night of entertainment. Tickets are $50. The evening also features a Film Tribute to Karen Allen, Senor Breakfast (Dance); Through the Looking Glass (Theatre) about the works of celebrated female writers; Berkshire Children and Families’ Kids 4 Harmony; and Funk Box Studio (Dance).

Saturday, November 12, at The Colonial Theatre Garage, the community is invited to join curators Rebecca Weinman and Carrie Wright from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for a less-than-formal artist panel discussion featuring established and emerging artists. There will be a cash bar and snacks. Admission is free. From 3:30 to 5:30, The Unicorn Theatre, 6 East Street, Stockbridge, Mass., hosts ‘The Shorts’ (Poetry, Plays and Stories). Tickets are $15. Return to The Colonial Theatre for a Dance Extravanganza from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., featuring a variety of choreographed perfromances. Tickets are $15.

Sunday, November 13, The Colonial Theatre screens Film Blocks from 12 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 per block or $35 for all three. The films are follwed by a Meet the Filmmakers: Festival Wrap Party from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hotel on North, 297 North Street, Pittsfield, Mass.
