Manchester Community Garden

Want to grow your own fresh vegetables and flowers but don’t have enough space or sunlight for a garden? Want to be part of a supportive community of gardeners? Join the Manchester Community and Educational Garden at the Manchester Recreation Area and enjoy your own 20×20 plot alongside the Youth Agriculture Project and the MEMS garden. The garden is a joint effort between the Tutorial Center, Manchester Elementary and Middle School, Transition Town Manchester and the Town of Manchester, Vt. The cost is minimal. A work day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3. (May 10 rain date.) For more information, call Hilary Batchelor at 802-824 4565 or [email protected] We are looking for youths ages 16 to 21 who need community service credit to work in the garden. Last year, the Youth Agriculture Project cultivated a third acre, donating hundreds of pounds of vegetables to Meals on Wheels. Visit tutoringvermont.org.
