With a goal to raise $15,000, more than 30 local volunteers will go bald

What:  Manchester Elementary Middle School in Manchester Center, Vt., will host a St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research on Wednesday, May 23. With a goal of raising $15,000, more than 30 local volunteers, including students and staff, will go bald to support the Foundation’s mission to take childhood back from cancer.

Teachers at Manchester have been organizing this St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event since 2014 and have raised more than $50,000 to date.

For more information, check out the Manchester Elementary Middle School, event page.

Media must check-in at the front office and receive a visitor’s badge.

Why: One in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Those who do survive often suffer long-term effects from treatment too harsh for their developing bodies. As the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is leading the charge to take childhood back from cancer. Donations raised at events like this support the development of childhood cancer treatments that give kids their best chance at growing up cancer free.
