Manchester Film Premiere Event to Benefit Local Causes
When a big box store employee (Jennifer Lopez) reinvents her life and her lifestyle, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as a college degree, and that it’s never too late for a ‘Second Act.’ On Friday, December 21, opening night of the new film, its writer/producer and one of its stars present a special reception and screening to benefit local nonprofits at a reception at 5:30 p.m., to be held at stART Space Gallery in Manchester. Two locals involved in the film, writer and producer Justin Zackham and one of its stars, Treat Williams, will host the special evening premiere. Meet and greet them both and enjoy plenty of food and drink as well as raffle items, including some autographed items from both Lopez and Williams. The party then moves to Village Picture Shows for a 7 p.m. screening of ‘Second Act,’ followed by Q&A with Zackham and Williams. Tickets to the event are $50 per person, with proceeds benefiting Grateful Hearts and the Burr and Burton Academy Success Program. Grateful Hearts gleans donated produce from local farms and producers to create meals in certified commercial kitchens that are then packaged, frozen and distributed to food cupboards, backpack programs and other organizations serving those who are food insecure. BBA’s Student Success Program primarily serves first-generation, college-bound students to assist them in developing college and career readiness skills, strength of character and a sense of purpose that will propel them toward a lifetime of success.
