The fourth annual celebration of Manchester Merriment, sponsored by the Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce, begins on November 30. Named one of Vermont’s ‘Top 10 Vermont Winter Events’ this year, Manchester Merriment will have six weeks of events; a percentage of proceeds will go to seven area food cupboards. Black Friday, November 29, kicks off with holiday shopping activities. Saturday, November 30, is ‘Shop Small Day,’ and the Town of Manchester will hold its annual Tree Lighting Celebration with Santa and Mrs. Claus, at the Manchester Park House at Dana Thompson Rec Park, at 5 p.m. Trees on Adams Park and the Town Green will also be illuminated on the same night. The Main Street Lighted Tractor and Float Parade – a major highlight – steps off from the Dorr Farm on Saturday, December 7, with viewing along Bonnet Street and Historic Main Street at 5:30 p.m. The tractor parade features the Springfield Marching Band and floats from our regional non-profit organizations, and Santa and Mrs. Claus making a special appearance. Vermont’s Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing is this year’s Parade Grand Marshall. The village of Dorset looks forward to lighting their tree on December 4. And don’t forget Arlington’s annual Saint Lucia Holiday Celebration at Saint James Church, following their tree lighting on December 14. Annual Holiday Inn Tours on December 7 and 14 will feature 15 inns and lodgings across the region dressed in their holiday best. Wine tastings are being hosted by Barrows House, the Perfect Wife and Gringo Jack’s beginning November 30.
