Bennington Rummage Sale
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington, 108 School Street, will be holding its annual Rummage Sale on Friday and Saturday, August 3 and 4. Thrifty shoppers look forward to this sale every summer, when they can purchase furniture, clothing, household items, toys, books, CDs and lots more at bargain prices. The sale is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The Ladies and Gentlemen’s Supper Club invite you to a Roast Pork Dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, at the Pawlet Community Church. The menu includes roast pork baked with our famous topping, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, hot vegetables, cabbage salad, applesauce, fruited jello, rolls and hot and cold beverages. Dessert this month will be brownie and ice cream with chocolate syrup. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children up to age 12, and free for those five and under. The Cambridge Food Pantry, Loaves and Fishes, will hold a fundraising dinner on Saturday, August 4, from 4:30 p.m. until sold out. The menu includes pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls, dessert and beverages. Come on down to 59 South Park Street on Route 22, in Cambridge, N.Y.
Bennington Elks Dinner
The Bennington Elks will serve their monthly dinner for members and their guests on Wednesday, August 1, from 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone. Doors open at 5:15. Choose baked or fried fish or baked chicken with scalloped or French fried potatoes, coleslaw, clam chowder, dinner rolls and cookies for $9. Proceeds go towards scholarships and Veterans programs. The Elks Club is located at 125 Washington Avenue, Bennington.
Maple Valley Grange, 31 Dugway Road, South Wallingford, is hosting Bingo on Sunday, August 5. Doors open at 11 a.m. Food will be available. For details, call Dennis at 802-353-4651.
Shushan Fireman’s Carnival
The Shusan, N.Y., Fireman’s Carnival will take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 3, and continuing through and Saturday, August 4, when there will be a chicken barbecue from 1 to 3 p.m. (Takeouts only.) The annual event is held at the Shushan Volunteer Fire Company, where there will be games, food, a raffle and entertainment.
