Mettowee Mill Garden Center Celebrating 40 years
Mettowee Mill Garden Center, established in 1973, is celebrating its 40th anniversary on Saturday, September 7, with a day of talks, demonstrations, specials and raffle drawings. “We have been fortunate to have shared this beautiful region with thousands of friends and customers for over four decades. There have been many changes, but it would be hard to find an area with such loyal and enthusiastic gardeners. We would like to thank all the people who have supported Mettowee over the years,” said Steve Jones, owner and founder.
At 10, Donna Andersen, Garden Maintenance Manager at Mettowee for 24 years, will present an informative talk, ‘Fall Clean-up and Putting your Garden to Bed.’ Fall is a great time to assess your gardens and think ahead to next year. At 1, guest speaker Andy Huntington of Pleasant View Gardens will give a demonstration on transitioning summer pots using cool-tolerant annuals with other fall favorites. Andy will also be giving a sneak peak at new Proven Winners for 2014. Events include a Mettowee Side Walk Sale. Check out a great selection of pottery, statuary and home decor items. Perennials will be half price, with discounts on selected nursery stock and more. Come early for the best selection. There will be a secret Mettowee giveaway for first people to arrive after 9 on Saturday, and at 5 there will be a drawing for ten gift certificates. Winners will be announced on Mettowee Mill’s Facebook Site. Food and beverages will be available. The staff at Mettowee looks forward to meeting and greeting both new and long time friends.
