Middle Schooler Students Compete in SVC Speech Contest

Seventh grade students from several area schools took part in a speech writing competition at Southern Vermont College.

Seventh grade students from several area schools took part in a speech writing competition at Southern Vermont College.

Twenty-one seventh grade students from area schools participated in the sixth annual Sarnoff Speech Contest at Southern Vermont College on May 1. Participants this year were from Long Trail School, Dorset; Maple Street School, Manchester; Mount Anthony Union Middle School, Bennington; the Mountain School at Winhall; and Pine Cobble School, Williamstown, Mass. The first place winner was Jaden Bauch; second place winner was Celsey McMahon, both from The Mountain School. The third place winner was Sophie Schaeffer from Pine Cobble School. The Sarnoff Speech Contest is managed each year by SVC students in the Quest for Success Class, Speak Up and Speak Out. The contest is funded by the Milton and Dorothy Sarnoff Raymond Foundation.
