Milazzo Named 2015 Poultney Citizen of the Year
Life-long Poultney resident Jaime Milazzo has been selected to receive the 2015 Poultney Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award, presented annually by Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce to honor a resident citizen who has made major contributions to the betterment of Poultney, who has distinguished him/herself through outstanding community service, and who typifies the true spirit of service and self-sacrifice in representing the finest ideals of Poultney citizenship.
The public is cordially invited to an open house reception to be held Saturday, September 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Young At Heart Senior Center, located at 206 Furnace Street in Poultney. Light hors d’oeurves and cake will be served.
Milazzo has done, and continues to do, many great things for the Poultney community – through projects and events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the Woman’s Club, the Parent-Teacher Organization, Poultney Elementary School, Helping Hands, the Poultney Recreation Department, Vermont Early Educators United, the annual Poultney Earth Fair and the Poultney Community League’s baseball and softball programs.
Jaime’s work conviction is honorable; however, it pales in comparison to her strong organizational skills, charming personality and spirit of volunteerism for the benefit of others. She took over leadership of the Poultney Community League a few years ago and brought it from a stagnant program to a thriving one – bringing in new equipment, a revamped playing field and new uniforms – and organizing teams, coaches, games, practices, an opening day parade, end-of-year banquet and much more. Her contributions are in addition to all she does for her business, Leap Frog Preschool, and her family and friends. Milazzo will be the Grand Marshal of Poultney’s 2016 July Fourth Parade. Past recipients of the Award are remembered in an historical accounting published at the Chamber’s website,
