Miskovsky to Exhibit in Dorset
The featured artist at the Dorset Public Library during the month of March will be Kate Rooney Miskovsky. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Miskovsky, who currently lives in Manchester, is a native of Washington DC. She was influenced by her artist parents and exposure to the city’s side street galleries and awe-inspiring art museums. Since those early years she has taken numerous workshops across the US, and participated in many shows, both solo and group. Most recently she attended a week-long plein air painting workshop on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine. Many of the paintings in the show are a reflection of her work while on that beautiful little island, which has inspired many artists for over a century. “For me, painting is about the process of capturing a moment in time; exploring the play of light, shadow and color, and the challenge of translating this onto a canvas. I paint for the sheer joy of it!” says Miskivsky, who works in oil, watercolor and acrylic to create her on intimate, vibrantly colorful compositions. All works are for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the library. Call 802-867-5774 for more information.
