Laughter, Learning and S’mores

Many individuals with disabilities never get the chance to overnight camp. United Counseling Service’s The Gathering Place Camp offers these individuals a camping experience close to home and with people they know and trust. It has provided the backdrop for laughter, learning, and great life experiences for individuals with intellectual disabilities since 2005. Staffed by UCS employees and volunteers, 80 campers had an opportunity to enjoy time together in a natural setting playing games, making friends, creating works of art and roasting s’mores by the campfire. This week long experience held at Camp Ondawa is sponsored by UCS and funding for the camp and activities is provided by support from generous donors. For more information or to make a donation, contact the Developmental Services Division of United Counseling Service at 802-442-5491.
