National Theater Celebration
From its early golden period under the leadership of Laurence Olivier at the Old Vic Theatre, to its now-iconic building in the heart of London, the National Theatre has been home to Britain’s finest theatrical talent. It has premiered works by renowned writers such as Harold Pinter, Peter Shaffer, Tom Stoppard, Alan Bennett and David Hare, and has staged celebrated performances by Maggie Smith, Derek Jacobi, Judi Dench, Michael Gambon and many of today’s rising stars.
To celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, the National Theatre of Great Britain presents an evening of live theater recorded in high definition. Nicholas Hytner directs a thrilling evening of live theater with rare glimpses from the archive, featuring many of the original actors who performed on the National’s stages in the past five decades.
The compilation airs at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Thursday, November 14, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18; to order, visit clarkart.edu or call 413-458-0524.
The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Mass. Due to construction activity at the Clark, plan to arrive twenty minutes before the performance.
