New Art Coming to Salem’s CCC
An exciting new exhibit is taking shape in the Great Hall of the Salem Courthouse Community Center. ‘A Year in Paint’ will feature the landscape oil paintings of Matt Chinian, who paints in and around Cambridge, N.Y. all year long, including during the recent polar vortex. A self-styled ‘Washington County Impressionist,’ he uses a subdued pallet focusing on the subtlety of the day in paint. His subjects are farms, rivers, roads and bridge; each painting is numbered, dated and located on a map. The show will open with a reception at the CCC on Friday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m, and will run until May 2. Salem Courthouse Community Center is located at 58 East Broadway, Salem, N.Y., and is handicapped accessible. Chinian’s work is also on view between until March 31 at Uncommon Grounds on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
