Open House for Students with Cognitive Impairments

Southern Vermont College (SVC) will host a College Steps Program Open House on Thursday, January 30, from 12 to 2 p.m. This innovative program provides students with cognitive impairments (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities) with an opportunity to participate in a modified two-year college experience, helping them to acquire academic, social, vocational and independent living skills. Participants obtain a certificate upon completion. CSP recruits undergraduates at SVC to serve as peer mentors on campus. The CSP Program Director will work with students and  professors to ensure proper fit within the classroom. CSP students are fully supported in and out of class, preparing them to be the citizens of tomorrow. For more information, contact Program Director Oakes at 802-447-4078 or e-mail darcy@collegesteps.org. Additional information on CSP is available at  collegesteps.org.
