Soprano Allison Devery and tenor Cameron Steinmetz perform a lively duet from Bernstein’s ‘Candide’ for OTW’s ‘Songs of Summer.’

‘Songs of Summer’ will be presented by Opera Theatre of Weston (OTW) at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, at the United Church of Ludlow, 48 Pleasant Street, Ludlow. Performing a varied and entertaining program of operatic and musical theater highlights, talented Vermont singers will be featured in selections from Gershwin’s ‘Porgy and Bess,’  Bernstein’s ‘Candide,’ Puccini’s ‘Madame Butterfly,’ Rodgers andHammerstein’s ‘South Pacific’ and Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘Pirates of Penzance’ and ‘The Mikado.’ Musical and stage direction is by Angela Gooch, OTW musical director and head of the opera and voice department at the prestigious Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts. Participating singers are sopranos Allison Devery, Anne D’Olivo (both members of Vermont’s vocal ensemble Counterpoint), Marietta Formanek, Lisha Klaiber, Kim Moyer, Jody Rapport (Washington Opera) and Kathleen Thompson; tenors Ryan Mangan, Fred Marin, Cameron Steinmetz (member of Counterpoint) and basses Brandon Bailey, Scott Forrest and Collin Stoodley. Proceeds from this concert will benefit OTW, a non-profit organization. The suggested donation is $15 to $20. All are welcome to attend this family-friendly event.
