Pember’s November First Friday Event

First Friday at the Pember Library and Museum  in Granville, N.Y., is gearing up to warm and comfort the November night with a full house of art and baked goods on Friday, November 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. Featured artist Anne Havel will be showing her one-of-a-kind torch-fired enamel jewelry; Mark Catman will be showcasing his hand-crafted baskets and cigar box and maple syrup can guitars. (With a little encouragement, he might play a tune or two!); and Dolores Adamson will display her small paintings and painted objects. The Friends of the Library have been working for months on a secret fundraising project that will redefine your notion of books – from books as clocks, to books as sculpture and paper ornaments, Repurposed Books promises to intrigue…and perhaps inspire a holiday gift! To top off the evening, there will be a juried pumpkin bake-off contest. Five judges will evaluate for taste, creativity and presentation: Jeanine Macura, Steven Saltis, Cindy Krueger, Bob Meldrum and Gordie Smith. Granville Mayor Brian LaRose will MC the awards! Across the Mettowee, the Slate Valley Museum will be hosting a reception and awards ceremony for the closing of their Slate as Muse National Art Exhibition. First Fridays in Granville starts at 7 p.m. and runs until 9. The Pember Library and Museum is located at 33 West Main Street in Granville, N.Y. Call
