Pops with a Purpose Benefits MMF Programs
Every year, Manchester Music Festival holds a special event to benefit its Education Division, which consists of the Young Artists Program, a pre-professional summer intensive and six other components, offering the Northshire area and its schools and reaching nearly 3,000 students year-round. Like the Young Artists Program, most are provided free of charge, or offer scholarships. Education, an essential part of MMF’s core mission, comprises almost 50% of the Festival’s operating budget, most of which is supported by contributed income.
This year’s benefit event is a Pops concert on Sunday, August 25, at 3, featuring Broadway star and Tony Award winner Audra McDonald. Produced by MMF, the concert will consist of our 50-member pops orchestra, with a wide spectrum of entertaining music and Audra McDonald, up close and personal, in the 400-seat Arkell Pavilion at Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester.
Tickets to this event benefitting our education programs are $250 apiece, of which $140 is tax deductible. Not only are they the best seats in the theater, they include an after-party in a private home with Ms. McDonald. MMF hopes concertgoers will consider attending its gala closing concert of the season, and helping MMF to continue the work it does. Tickets and information are available online at mmfvt.org, or by calling 802-362-1956.
Manchester Music Festival offers classical music performances and education of the highest caliber throughout the year. MMF hosts renowned musicians and provides a full-scholarship summer chamber music program for pre-professional Young Artists, and private lessons in violin, viola and cello.
