Patricia McCoy is shown accepting a check by Alex Aldrich, executive director of the Vermont Arts Council, for a Cultural Facilities Grant for the Poultney Public Library at a ceremony that took place at the Vermont State House.

The Poultney Public Library will use the Cultural Facilities Grant to make much needed improvements to their heating and cooling systems. The $30,000 grant from the Vermont Arts Council will fund the replacement of the building’s existing boiler and air conditioning. “We are looking forward to being able to maintain a comfortable temperature in the library year round,” said Library director Rebecca Cook. “It will make the library a more inviting atmosphere for our many visitors, especially for our cultural programs and events.” The Arts Council awarded Cultural Facilities grants to 16 organizations and towns in Vermont. The program is administered by the Vermont Arts Council in conjunction with the  Vermont Historical Society and the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, and are intended to help Vermont nonprofits and municipalities enhance, create or expand the capacity of an existing building to provide cultural activities for the public. The Poultney Public Library has been serving Poultney and the surrounding area since 1895. For details, visit them at 205 Main Street in Poultney, or online at poultneypubliclibrary.com.
