Joyce and Kenneth Held of Pownal have been awarded the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International’s Alpha Lambda State Vermont Outstanding Service to Education Award. The Helds have guided and worked with Karel Holcomb’s fourth grade class at the Pownal Elementary School for the past 11 years. Each year the students learn how to do research, write about specific topics and coordinate materials to publish a book. This year the students are writing a book about the 50th anniversary of the Solomon Wright Public Library. The award was presented in Brattleboro during the DKG Alpha Lambda Vermont State Convention.
