about the Pursuit of Wellness 5K this weekend.

The third annual Pursuit of Wellness 5K Run/Walk against pancreatic cancer, and the first-ever Pumpkin Fun Run is being held in Dorset, Vt. on October 19, beginning at 9. This year’s race will start at the Dorset Theater, to allow for a more rural and distinctive race course for the runners and walkers.  “Although the Pursuit of Wellness is held as a fundraiser, we want it to first and foremost be a rewarding and unique race for all participants, and Dorset is one of the most scenic and beautiful places in which to run or walk. We look forward to sharing our new 5K race course with prior years’ runners as well as with new participants,” stated race director Mullainy Fine,

All ages and ability levels are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded for the overall fastest male and female runners, the fastest junior and master runners as well as the first walker to finish. Race T-shirts will be awarded to all participants, as supplies last, on a first come first serve basis. The Dorset Pumpkin Fun Run will be open to children of all ages, and is approximately one mile around the block starting at Playhouse Lane and Meadow Lane. The race course will be decorated with pumpkins, and entrants are encouraged, although not required, to run in costume. All proceeds will be donated to the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Pancreatic cancer is one of the world’s deadliest forms of cancer. Early detection is rare; it is one of the hardest cancers to treat.  More research and resources are needed to improve survivorship rates for this deadly disease.  So far, the Pursuit of Wellness has raised thousands for the cause. Pre-registration is encouraged. For information, call 802-379-8932 or visit thepursuitofwellness.wix.com.We need of volunteers and pumpkins! Call 802-867-2556 if you would like to volunteer.
