The Dorset Players will present ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ a musical comedy that takes place in a middle school gym where six quirky adolescents participate in a spelling bee run by three equally quirky adults.

Performance dates are Friday and Saturday, May 18, 19, 25 and 26, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 20 and 27, at 2 p.m.

Directed by Todd Hjelt, the cast features Joey Blane, Courtney Carter, Suzi Dorgeloh, Dana Haley, Billy Jamieson, Lilly Kelly, Allie McGahie, Tom Norton, Chris Restino and Dan Silverm, with musical direction by Gary Schmidt and choreography by Erika Schmidt. Music and lyrics are by William Finn; the book is by Rachel Sheinkin and the play was conceived by Rebecca Feldman.

Tickets are available at 802-867-5570 or dorsetplayers.org. The box office will be open May 15 to 17 and 22 to 24 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and two hours before each performance. There will be an after-show reception on Friday, May 18; on Saturday, May 19, Dorset Players members get two for one tickets for that evening’s show. The Playhouse café will be open for coffee and dessert 45 minutes before each performance and at the intermission.
