Readsboro Concert to Feature Stockwell Brothers
Readsboro Arts Summer Concerts presents contemporary bluegrass and folk music quartet, The Stockwell Brothers, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, in the historic E.J. Bullock Building, 7012 Main Street, Readsboro.
Bruce, Barry, Alan and Kelly Stockwell’s music spans traditional and progressive styles, but their trademark acoustic sound features new singer/songwriter material recast with banjo, alternative rhythms and three-part harmonies. They cover bluegrass songs, finger-picked acoustic guitar ballads, full-tilt breakdowns and traditional mandolin tunes mixed with more unusual fare: Americana melodies riding world beat grooves and Celtic, jazzy, even neo-classical instrumentals. The Stockwell Brothers have performed alongside artists from Bill Monroe, Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs to Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Jonathan Edwards and Asleep at the Wheel and have toured throughout the US and in Canada and Europe. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Cabaret seating. Call Readsboro Arts at 802-423-5600 for information.
