Registration Open for UCS 5K
Registration for the United Counseling Service’s ‘Go the Distance’ 5K Run/Walk is now open. It will take place on Sunday, June 10, starting at 9 a.m., at 316 Dewey Street in Bennington. Proceeds support client wellness programs at UCS. The day’s events will include a pre-race warm up at 8:30 offered by Andrea Malinowski of Optionz Health and Fitness, followed by a run or walk along a paved 5K course. There will also be a free Kid’s Fun Run – all kids will receive a medal.
“This is the eighth year UCS has held ‘Go the Distance.’ This is the first year the race will benefit our newly developed client wellness fund,” said Lorna Mattern, UCS executive director. “Wellness activities can help individuals focus, overcome obstacles and fight off illness. Wellness programs are broad and can include physical fitness, seminars, workshops, classes, field trips, artistic endeavors such as trips to museums and a wide array of activities that promote overall well-being for our clients.”
Interested runners can register at active.com. Pre-register by June 1 for $20 or $25 after that date. A family of four can register for $50 by June 1, or $60 afterward. Packet pickup available on Saturday, June 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at UCS, 100 Ledge Hill Drive, Bennington, or at the event venue on the day of the race from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
You can also register for the Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) World-Record Jump Rope Race. The race will take place at 12:15 p.m. at the Monument Avenue entrance lot at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, and is free and open to all participants.
