Relax and Paddle on Emerald Lake
End your day with a relaxing canoe trip on the water. See a Vermont state park from the water. Hop in a canoe and enjoy the lush green view of Vermont Valley from Emerald Lake as the mountains and pines tower overhead. Enjoy this free guided paddle every Saturday through Labor Day Weekend on the clear waters at Emerald Lake State Park in North Dorset. The evening begins with paddle instruction and light stretching on the beach, followed by a an hour long paddle tour with some short talks about trees, beavers, wetlands, citizen science, and the historical uses of Emerald Lake and the surrounding area. The minimum age is ten, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. The maximum number of people per float trip is 12, or six canoes. The tour is filled on a first come-first serve basis. All gear is provided free of charge, but does not include entrance to the park, which is $3 per adult, $2 per child. PFDs are mandatory for all paddlers. The paddle begins at 6:30 p.m. every Saturday in July and 6 p.m. in August. Wear shoes that can get wet and proper clothing for a breezy lake. Meet at the beach.
