‘Remember Newtown’ Vigil in Manchester
On Saturday, December 14, at noon on the Manchester Town Green, community members in Manchester and the surrounding towns will hold a vigil to remember the 20 children and six adults murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. on December 14, 2012.
Participants will gather to read the ‘Sandy Hook Promise,’ a pledge for people of all political perspectives to work together to reduce gun violence, read the names of those that lost their lives, and stand together in silent remembrance. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. This is a time for all of us to come together.
This vigil is one of two dozen vigils that have been organized around the state by Gun Sense Vermont. Gun Sense Vermont is a coalition of Vermonters working together to keep guns out of the wrong hands. We bridge organizations such as the Vermont Public Health Association and Child Safe Vermont, and individuals from 160 different Vermont towns, including gun owners and non-gun owners, doctors and teachers, hunters and veterans, religious and civic leaders. We are all standing together in the belief that we can do a better job of protecting our children and communities from gun violence. Visit GunSenseVT.org for information.
