Rutland Youth Theatre will hold open auditions for ‘The King and I,’ Sunday and Monday, September 25 and 26, at Rutland Recreation Department, 16 North Street Extension. Produced by Saskia Hagen Groom and directed by Mikki Lane, ‘The King and I’ tells the story of an English widow, hired by the King of Siam to tutor his wives and children and assist in changing his barbaric image. Auditions will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Rehearsals will be scheduled for Tuesdays 6 to 9, Thursdays 5 to 7:30, and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. Shows will take place on December 9 and 10 at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland. Students K-12 may audition; choose one audition date ONLY. No preparation or experience is required, and you do not need to be a resident of Rutland County.
