S. Vermont Primitive Biathlon
The 12th annual Southern Vermont Primitive Biathlon will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, starting at 9 a.m. each day and running through 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Preparations are under way, and conditions are looking good so far. A primitive biathlon is a fun and challenging wilderness competition of target shooting and snowshoeing. The event is open to all muzzleloading firearm enthusiast, regardless of their skill level or athletic ability. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to view portions of the course. Other black powder shooting events are held throughout the weekend. The event will be held on Skinner Hollow Farm on Route 7A , Manchester, exactly 1.8 miles south of the Equinox Hotel. All proceeds from this event benefit the Manchester Rod and Gun Club’s gun range reconstruction project and the Youth Conservation Camp Scholarship Fund. The event has raised over $18,500 to date; $2500 last year. There are two grand prizes to give away this year in separate raffles: a brand new CVA Optima .50 Caliber Inline Muzzleloader compliments of The Manchester Rod and Gun Club and The Reel Angler; and a like-new Interarms Hawkin .50 calibur percussion rifle with box and powder measure, compliments of Eric Severance.
