Sage City Symphony’s Season Begins

Sage City Symphony will offer its first concert of the season at 4 p.m. on November 17, in Greenwall Auditorium at Bennington College. Prime Lending of Bennington is a major sponsor for this concert.

The program, which has been in rehearsal since late September under conductor Michael Finckel, will include works by Samuel Barber, Paul Dukas, and Maurice Ravel. The players will number around seventy, including eight percussionists and two harps in Ravel’s ‘Daphnis et Chloe.’

The large orchestra will also be needed for Dukas’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,’ perhaps best known from Disney’s animated version in the 1940 film, ‘Fantasia.’

Enjoy the concert and get holiday shopping done at the same time! Sage City Symphony will be holding a silent auction at the performance, with jewelery, ceramics and art from local artisans; gift certificates, antique glass and other items from regional shops.

There is no admission charge, although donations are always most welcome.
