Salem Al Fresco Dinner
On Saturday, July 26, the Courthouse Community Center in Salem, N.Y. will present its 12th Al Fresco Dinner, starting at 5 pm. Offered on the side lawn under crisp white tents, this much-anticipated event is truly a celebration of all the good our area has to offer. The dinner, sourced from local growers and producers, will feature an array of artisan cheeses and grilled summer vegetables during the cocktail hour. Diners will enjoy maple-glazed loin of pork served with grilled local vegetables, thinly sliced sirloin beef with Mojito sauce plated on field greens and fiesta corn salad. A vegetarian dish will be offered to those who do not wish to eat meat. The meal will close with a chocolate mint cake and fresh whipped cream. A cash bar will provide Red Newt Cellars wines and Adirondack Pub and Brewery beer. The Roadhouse Rhythm and Blues Band, an eight piece horn-driven band featuring the music of the 60s and 70s, will perform. The Mettawee River Theater Company, under the direction of Ralph Lee and Casey Compton, will once again offer a procession of whimsically dressed characters and puppets during the meal. Each year, the CCC collaborates with Salem Art Works to feature three fine pieces of sculpture on the side lawn, and the Great Hall of the CCC will feature ‘The Past is Present,’ an exhibit woodcarvings. Guests can partake in the silent auction offering a vast selection of quality items and services donated for this event. The Al Fresco Weekend is the most important fundraiser held by the CCC each year, relying on 200 volunteers who come together to make this special event a reality. Proceeds support the ongoing financial needs that keep this vibrant community center open. Mingle with politicians, artists, farmers, teachers and your neighbor from across the way.
