Salem Community Center Haunted House
The Salem Courthouse Community Center is holding their fourth annual Haunted House fundraiser. This year there will be labyrinths, a graveyard full of ghouls, a maze to escape from, a morgue you definitely don’t want to end up in, and a jail that will scare you straight. The dates are Friday and Saturday evenings, October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26, between 7 and 9:30.
One representative, who asked not to be identified, said, “The Courthouse has been spooked over hard times, and has been forced to lease out space to some interesting characters. He tells of a strange magician putting on shows, saying, “I guess that’s good having a little entertainment around town, but then there was a farmer who brought in some of his equipment, muttering something about ‘some killin’ to do on the farm.’ I don’t know what he meant by that, though I did not like the way he smiled after saying it.”
The jail has apparently attracted the interest of an odd fellow, claiming he wants to store some “things” in there. And people are wondering whether the health department is going to raise a stink over the room in the basement being used as the county morgue. “That’s just to name a few,” added the anonymous spokesperson.
“Frankly, all of these new renters are unsavoury – there is just something not right about them that gives me the creeps. Of course, the building is a community center, but I think they need to be more careful about who they let in.”
Concerned citizens are asked to go and investigate.
Admission is $10 adults, $5 kids under 13, $5 volunteer fire/rescue with ID, and $25 for families of five or less.
The Courthouse Commnity Center is located at 58 East Broadway in Salem, N.Y.
